GIVING 3RD GRADERS THEIR FIRST  DICTIONARIES

John thanked Elizabeth Kemmish, Margie Flores, and Gary Redfern for all the work they did to make the dictionary handout at Kalama Elementary so successful.

John also thanked Karin Carlson for writing a second article for Neighbors of Wailea & Makena magazine about our club that will be out in December.

11th ANNUAL MAUI CHILDREN AND YOUTH DAY

John thanked all who helped with the Youth Day at Kihei Youth center last Saturday.  Stuart shared pictures of the event attended by hundreds of keiki and their families. Every kid gets a pink form that they take from booth to booth. They get a stamp for completing an activity at each booth and when all the squares are stamped, they can collect a hot dog and fresh fruit.

At our booth, after they colored or wrote their name on a bookmark with crayons, they spun the Wheel of Book Fortune to see if they won a book, or could choose candy, a pin from our collection of previous years' Rotary International theme pins or a squishy foam ball. Book winners chose from an assortment of books grouped by grade in school. After a while, we added "Win a book" to every section of the wheel.

ROTARY DISTRICT 5000 YOUTH PROTECTION POLICY
REQUIRED VOLUNTEER AFFIDAVIT

The District 5000 Policy Manual states that it is the duty of all Rotarians, Rotarians’ spouses, partners, and other volunteers who participate in Rotary youth programs to complete and submit a Volunteer Affidavit form.

This is required to help fulfill Rotary International District 5000's (“District 5000”) commitment to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary activities, to safeguard as much as possible the welfare of children and young people with whom we come into contact, and to prevent physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.

If you are going to be participating in any of our Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea youth programs, click here to download either a Microsoft Word version or fillable PDF version of the Volunteer Affidavit form. Please complete the form and bring it to any club meeting or mail it to Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea, P.O. Box 175, Kihei, HI 96753. Our club will pay the $10 fee for processing the confidential background check for all members in good standing.
