TODAY'S SPEAKER
Autumn Shields
Margie Flores introduced Autumn Shields our speaker and local author. Autumn moved to Maui four years ago from Colorado. Her talk was to shake us up and learn to "Live Life Alive".
Autumn worked for fifteen years as a Victim Advocate in Colorado and then in the Health and Wellness field for fifteen years. She believes we all go from alive to stuck, but can be called back to aliveness by what she calls a”nudge”. The nudge is followed by a ripple effect and the difference between an idea and a nudge is that the nudge doesn’t go away and we are inspired and helped out of our comfort zone by the right people who come into our lives.
When Autumn arrived on Maui she worked for Maui County serving high risk teens. This was a
non-profit endeavor, and in January 2018, she and a partner will launch a for-profit business
to offer cultural tours on Maui.
She is a single mother raising a son. She left us with the message that it’s not about YOU but stepping out and serving and volunteering. She brought her book Living Your Live Alive and it is available online.
We celebrated Auriol Flavell’s 92nd birthday.
Auriol started the Maui Pops 14 years ago to save island teachers who were leaving Maui.
December's Holiday Pops at the MACC was a sellout with 1100 attending.
