THE MEETING
The meeting was called to order by President John Moore at Mulligans at 12:05.  He welcomed each of us and asked that we welcome each other with hugs and handshakes.  Janet Walker led us in the pledge
John welcomed back Margie Flores who has been gone a couple weeks for medical reasons.
Kathleen Tezak inspired us with “ It doesn’t matter how slow you go, just don’t stop”.
Steve Moksnes shared the membership book (that he had misplaced, and John found), telling all to add names of those friends you would like to bring to Rotary for lunch.  A reminder not to lose the membership book was tied on his finger as a reminder by John
John reminded each of us to save and bring to the next meeting small soaps that will be taken to a Shelter Upcountry.
John passed around three thank you notes from different groups we have helped in the past couple months.  Those were:  Lokelani school, Kihei Elementary school, and a Peace group.
THE LUNCH BUNCH
AUCTION!
Auction was held by Kit Hawkins for two items left from our fundraiser.  One was sold to Gary Redfern for $250, a Trilogy evening cruise worth $300.  That money will go into the account for rescue tubes.
 KIHEI CHARTER SCHOOL INTERACT CLUB
Joanne Doell introduced Jade, the president of the Interact club at the Kihei Charter School.  She updated us on their project to clean up the Kihei Boat Ramp area.  Our club is encouraged to help on April 28th.
MEMBERSHIP
Mark Harbison, membership chair, presented Bless Young with her membership certificate.
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS
SUNSHINE REPORT

Gloria Lukens gave us a history of the hats that were presented by Kit Hawkins and made by Kit.  Those hats were given to Stuart Karlan, Gloria, and a feather lei to Margie Flores.

Gloria also gave an update from Cynthia Clark.  She will be here the rest of April, then taking a tour of several National Parks in the west and south US with a friend from CA.  Cynthia is not doing well and wants to get this trip in while she can.

RESCUE TUBE REPORT
Gary Redfern gave us an update on the rescue tubes.  He is asking for another volunteer to help maintain the tubes.  He explained he has a source for new tubes, for straps, and flags to replace old ones.  Several have requested new tubes be installed.  There is a bill in the House called the Good Samaritan law that should protect the tubes and punish those who vandalize.

HAPPY DOLLARS
PRESIDENT'S REPORT
John Moore
John congratulated our club on the 9 months this year that we’ve worked as a team.  Every avenue of service has been worked on.  But he encouraged us to remember the need for new members and asked that we follow through with ideas on how to attract new members.
THE PRESIDENT-ELECT'S REPORT
Joanne Doell
Joanne is excited to be our new president in July.  She would like us to think of having a party on July 4th to start out the new Rotary year.  Or the party could be July 11th, the next week to begin the Rotary year.  Though she has attended three years of PETS conferences she says this was the best.  The theme is “BE THE INSPIRATION”.  And she was inspired.  She asked that those of us who leave for the summer months think of how we can continue to be an active member during those months.  She is asking each of us to think of the projects we liked in the past, what we like now, and how this club might incorporate new projects.  She gave us 5 minutes to write on post-its suggestions of what we liked, like and hope to see in the future in our club.  She wants to see each of us face to face in the next 5 weeks to get new ideas of where the club might go.
MAGIC MARBLE
In the pot this week - $756.  Dray drew a blue marble, so on we go to next week.
