JOHN, THANKS FOR LEADING US THROUGH A GREAT YEAR!!
BARRY'S POEM

President John Moore “Toast”

When the year started John came riding in on his horse

Like Mr. Nice Guy…we were bamboozled, of course

He said this years gonna be all fun and games…

Then he proceeded to kick a$$ and take names

With no smiles, all growls and tough guy looks

He redefined our club’s budget and books

Uh oh, this club’s no place for the meek

My gosh we’ve handed the reins to a control freak

Be accountable, No slackers,

The demands came faster and faster

New Members, Big Fundraiser,

Commanded the Task Master

No patience, he wanted hares

And no tortoise

During board meetings, he was so rigid

Members thought he had rigor mortis

Meetings were run tight like a ship

God forbid anything on John’s agenda slip

Like a Swiss clock, his organization was sublime

Every meeting began and ended on time

During speakers’ programs

His predecessors would take time to eat lunch

Not John, he’d stand in their view

With his watch like a time clock to punch

At first, we worried about his approach

Would cause consternation and a chasm

But lo and behold instead of reproach

The membership responded with enthusiasm

This tough guy, arm twister extraordinaire

With his own quirky brand of flair

Was able to get many to roll up their sleeves

And pull up a chair

Through his unique blend of vinegar and honey

John got his fundraising committee to raise record money

He got us to turn out for rescue tubes and food drives

The results of which improved and saved lives

Over time as his tough guy veneer

Began to crack, we all said, “looky here!”

A big heart? Generous and sensitive? … Maybe…

Next, we knew he was sobbing like a baby

Disasters, saved lives, people in need

Seems it all makes the poor guy’s heart bleed

Soon everything his emotions would vex

Couldn’t get through a meeting without a box of Kleenex

John, we really feel sorry for your misses

We hope she doesn’t have to answer your bizarre topic quizzes

And we recommend you shower her with cash

So she continues to put up with that mustache.

Seriously John, from all of us, thanks,

This year has been quite dandy

And if there are some things we’ll all miss…

It won’t include corny jokes, silly awards or cheap candy!

OPENING THE MEETING
You can tell John is sad about his last day as our Rotary Club president
Joanne read this Inspiration by Mother Teresa:  "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier."
John thanked his Board members and committee chair with framed certificates and his Alohas:
Congratulations to all !!!

John posed this question to us all...How many Rotarians does it take to get the job done?

Every one!

Joe returned the socks John had awarded him a few months ago, and our guest, Paul Cardile, claimed them since they were the original colors for the Denver Broncos.

Gloria gave John a nice Ti Lei from Kihei youth center, Joanne made a plumeria lei and presented it to John, "from our hearts to your heart."
