The Hawaiian Word of the Day is Hana. Ali’i Queens come from here, means to work or rainy land, Ka’ahumanu, Kamehameha’s I favorite wife born in a cave called Pu’u Kauiki in 1768: 1927 Hana Hwy built to bring sugar to Kahului instead of shipping it.

Announcements

Pineapple Tour testimonials given by Dave Ballaine and Dale Presson. ”This enjoyable tour was about processing pineapples as well as a historical tour. Field machinery utilized by Maui Land & Pineapple were all lined up in a field like a museum photo of a past harvesting scene. Marketing efforts today go in a different direction; with less acreage, had to withdraw from supplying Costco as they didn’t have enough product under cultivation. But after increasing production recently, they can better supply Costco now. When ML&P decided to shut down, senior executives purchased the Maui Gold Trademark and continue to use it today to develop a pineapple that is very desirable in the Maui marketplace.” Thanks to Margie for planning such a wonderful, educational event.
