Relax Mark, you will not be a winner today........
Today's Speaker
Dennis Bagshaw
Dennis is our newly minted Board member taking on the duties of Coordinating our Rescue Tube Project in addition to Coordinating our Pau Hana’s with his wife Rema and assisting the club in finding new Community projects.
Dennis relayed a story that created a sixth degree of separation scenario. He sent an email to Gary Redfern or so he thought. It turned out it was another Gary Redfern in the Caribbean. However, this person emailed back to say he was a member of a group called, “Pink Tubes Rescue.” He had received a National Sea Rescue Institution Award.
A short video was shown that explained how an untrained person can use them without putting themselves in danger. This video is now being presented to the Kahului Airport to be initiated as a public announcement video at the airport
There are presently 50 tubes installed on island with 10 rescues on record using the tubes.
Our club and Joanne Laird have been instrumental in creating the "Rotary Coastal Clubs of Maui" which is expanding the installation of Rescue Tubes in Lahaina area. A brochure is in production for general public informational purposes.
